Host clients attach to sessions kept by ubiquitty-host. The macOS app can also run its own shell; the Linux GTK frontend runs local shells only. The table distinguishes transports and rendering support. See Install and build for prerequisites and commands.

Transport is how the client reaches a session. Local host socket is the host’s owner-only Unix socket on the same machine. Host attach bridge runs ubiquitty-host --attach and talks over its standard input and output. SSH runs the host on another machine over your SSH connection; QUIC then carries the session after SSH has authenticated it. Depends means the embedding application draws, and decides.

ubiquitty-host. The daemon every client attaches to. It owns the shells, the panes and the layout, and keeps them when no client is attached. Runs on macOS; static Linux builds for x86_64 and arm64; other POSIX systems from source. See Multiplexer and sessions.

  • Windows: there is no native Windows frontend in the source tree.
  • BSD console (wscons): OpenBSD and NetBSD console frontend using wsdisplay and wskbd, without a GUI toolkit or GPU. Build instructions.
